At dawn 3:00 am, 6 September, 1965, Indian IX Corps crossed the Indian border and entered within striking distance of Lahore, Pakistan. The enemy considers it to be a golden opportunity to undo Pakistan. It was on this day that our survival was threatened by an enemy posing over whelming superiority both in force and equipment. But bravely Pakistan Air force counter attack and destroyed several Indian’s vehicles, forcing them to retreat. A renewed attack came the following day; Pakistani forces were well aimed of Indians attack. At Chawinda Border, Sialkot, Indian tanks were destroyed. Pakistan Army fought bravely and responded to the challenge with boldness. With the blessing of Allah, all mighty, we were able to squash the enemy on land, sea and air.

The people of Pakistan were left with two options: honorable survival and ignominious capitulation. They had chosen the path of courage, dignity and honor. From Khyber to Karachi, everyone wanted to contribute in the defence of Pakistan and stood firm and determinate. The nation as a whole stood united against enemy’s aggression. Poets wrote nationalistic poetry. Popular singer Madam Noor Jahan went to Lahore Television Station, requesting them to allow her to sing for Pakistan.
The war last till 17 days. Finally the enemy was forced to instantly give up the dream of the easy victory on Pakistan. Glorious archives of valor, courage and self-sacrifice were written in the face of heavy odds making the resolute will and determination of the Armed forces and nation and to ensure a strong and prosperous Pakistan.
Let us invoke on this to thanks Allah, all mighty, for giving us success and pay tribute to the martyrs, who lead their life for our future. Let us resolve to emulate the examples of our heroes so that we can continue to enjoy the pride and freedom of our countrymen. May Allah grant us the strength and wisdom to fulfill our obligations to the best of our abilities and in the line with the expectations of the people of Pakistan (Ameen).
